Brandy-Soaked Naked Fruit Cake 1.4kg – Ready to Decorate | Nut-Free Option

Our Brandy-Soaked Naked Fruit Cake (1.4kg) is designed for those who love to decorate their own cakes while starting with a deeply flavoured, traditional fruit cake base.

Baked slowly in small batches, this rich boiled fruit cake is made using premium vine fruits that have been generously soaked in brandy, giving the cake its unmistakably deep, mature flavour. The alcohol is cooked during baking, leaving a warm, rounded taste rather than a sharp spirit note.

Supplied without marzipan or icing, this naked fruit cake is ideal for home decorators, professional cake makers, and anyone wanting to add their own personal finish.

A Versatile Cake for Every Occasion

This cake adapts beautifully to multiple celebrations:

  • Easterdecorate as a traditional Simnel cake

  • Christmas – add marzipan and fondant for a classic Christmas cake

  • Birthdays & Anniversaries – ice simply or decorate with ribbons and toppers

  • Nut-Free Celebrations – can be iced directly with fondant or royal icing for those avoiding nuts

Its plain finish makes it particularly popular with customers looking for a nut-free decorating option, without compromising on flavour or texture.

Crafted to Decorate Well

The cake has a firm yet moist crumb that:

  • Holds icing and decorations beautifully

  • Slices cleanly

  • Stores well before decorating

It arrives carefully packaged and shrink-wrapped, allowing you to decorate immediately or store it until closer to your celebration.

This is how fruit cake is supposed to taste…

Every slice is mouth-wateringly moist, moreish, and fruity. Juicy cherries, sultanas, citrus, apricots, dates, soaked in French brandy and boiled with sugar and mixed spices until they are plump, succulent, and bursting with flavour before being baked to perfection.

About Grandpa's

Our Grandpa Stuart’s cherished recipe is the stuff of (local) legend. What began as a first prize in the village fete baking competition has evolved into a small batch Suffolk bakery, producing Grandpa’s moist and tender fruit cake just like the day he first created the recipe.
