Just a Few Weeks Until Stir-Up Sunday – Is Your Fruit Soaking Yet?

Stir-Up Sunday Is Almost Here! Whether You Soak with Brandy or Juice, It’s Time to Stir

Stir-Up Sunday Is Almost Here! Whether You Soak with Brandy or Juice, It’s Time to Stir

The countdown is on: Stir-up Sunday — the traditional day to bake your Christmas cake — falls on Sunday 23rd November this year.

That means now is the time to ask:

🍒 Is your fruit already soaking?

If yes — well done, you’re ahead of the game!
If not — don’t panic. There’s still time to soak your fruit and prep for a beautifully rich, festive fruit cake that will last right through Christmas.

🥃 Brandy? Rum? Juice? Choose Your Soak

Soaking your fruit not only plumps it up but helps the flavours deepen as your cake matures.

Here are some favourite options:

  • Brandy – the traditional favourite

  • Dark Rum – sweet, spicy, and warming

  • Whisky – smooth with a little kick

  • Orange Juice or Apple Juice – a brilliant alcohol-free option that’s still packed with festive flavour

  • Cold black tea – especially spiced chai or Earl Grey

Whatever your preference, give your fruit at least 24–48 hours to soak — and stir it once or twice to help it absorb evenly.

🛍️ Short on Time?

Our Luxury Mixed Fruit with Brandy is already infused, gently soaked and packed by hand in Suffolk — perfect if you’re short on time or want guaranteed flavour without the prep.

Prefer to use your own soak?
We’ve also got the plain version — same rich fruit mix, but ready to be infused with whatever you like.
